Oblivion-Lost.de - The strike is over
Exactly two weeks ago, we started striking with the intention of showing the mainly responsible US department of the publisher THQ, that the community is very unhappy with their current patch policy. A couple of days before, GSC Game World named the reason for the excessive waiting time for the patch 1.0004, which was already announced weeks before: THQ has problems with the chinese localization and wants to delay the patch release, until the final localization of every language version is completed.
At the beginning of the strike, we announced that the strike will continue, until THQ releases the afore-mentioned patch and, in addition, changes their patch policy. THQ themselves could not be convinced to make a statement during those two weeks. Hence we decided to end the strike ahead of time, because with continuation of the strike, we would mainly harm GSC and their project Clear Sky, which is not, and never has been, our goal at any time.
Despite the premature end, we don't think the strike has failed completely. We made some interesting experiences and a big number of potential buyers will think twice before purchasing a title that is published by THQ.
As for the patch, there are no real news so far, although Oleg Yavorsky, senior PR-manager at GSC Game World, commented on the situation to CVG.com last monday, stating a "very close" release of the patch. Something changed however - looking at the changelog of the patch, attached to the article on CVG.com, you'll find a new entry named "freeplay mode" - GSC Game World seems to be planning to release the freeplay mode with patch 1.0004.
Last but not least, we'd like to thank all users and online portals, who supported us and the strike and expressed their opinions in the forums.
Furthermore, our best thanks go out to all the online portals, participating in the strike by joining the news boykott as well.
